The Local Area

Picturesque Landscape
The Lake District National Park is known for its stunning views and picturesque landscape. The Potting Shed is located a few minutes walk from where the Dales Way walking route runs through to Bowness. There are many walking paths directly from the front door to take you to the viewing points of Orrest Head, School Knott or Brantfell.
If you prefer to leave your car then enjoy the walk down to Bowness, board the Lakes Cruisers and take the round trip to Ambleside, returning by open-topped bus or ferry.

Gastronomic Delights
If walking is not the focus then the other speciality of The Lakes is the food and drink.
We have the an abundance of lovely cafes, like the Jetty Museum’s cafe on the lake or Chester’s by the River at Skelwith Bridge.
There is also the highest selection of Michelin star restaurants of any area outside London here in Cumbria and 4 are within a 15min drive.

Year Round Destination
There are many cultural attractions that include the beautiful Arts and Crafts house at Blackwell, the World of Beatrix Potter experience in Bowness or her house at ‘Hill House’ in Sawrey, as well as the Aquarium, Motor Museum and modern steam boat museum, The Jetty.
Literary fans can explore the history of William Wordsworth in Grassmere and John Ruskin’s house, Brantwood, at Coniston.
The beauty of the Lake District is there is always something to do or see regardless of the weather or season and that’s why it remains an all year round destination.
